Byford Family? Which One?
This website has been started by a father and son team, Richard
and Oliver Byford of Wendover in Buckinghamshire in the UK.
Richard is the grandson of William Ernest Byford of Southchurch
(born Maldon, Essex, 1879), from a lineage leading back to Great
Maplestead on the Essex/Suffolk border.
For the time being, the site is restricted to viewing by invitation
only, however, we hope very soon to make all records visible.
Eventually, you will be able add your own Byford ancestors to
the site and then we will be able start making connections!
If you are related to William (above), sign
up for a free password to see details of living individuals
and to add your own part of the family.
THIS IS A NON-COMMERCIAL SITE. Access will be limited to proven
relatives initially until we can ensure privacy for named living
individuals on the site. If you are not related, but would like
to get involved in tracing the Byford name worldwide, send me
an email from this page and I will get back to you.
So you think you might be a Byford?
The way you spell your surname may come down to luck. If your
ancestor didn't speak up clearly at a christening or marriage
- or the vicar was deaf - it could have changed spelling several
times in a single generation. These are the variety of spellings
we have encountered for Byford in our research: Bayford; Beaufort;
Biffard; Bifford; Biffort; Biford; Biforde; Biforde; Boeffert;
Bufford; Bufford; Byeford; Byfford; Byfford; Byfield and Byforde.
If you find any others, let us know!
On this site you will also find references to the Joslen family
of Southend, the Austin of Maldon, Archer of Wakering and High
Easter, Nutting of Batley, Dewsbury, Datchworth and Islington.
